Electric Motorcycles

Common Manufactures
There are many manufacturers that are producing different models of electric motorcycles. Alta is a brand that specializes in dirt bike models and has just entered the market of electric motorcycles. These electric dirt bikes have a strong but light subframe to them and are known for being comfortable. If the consumer wants a more street bike look, Energica is the brand to look at. This electric motorcycle has a luxurious look to it but can only be custom ordered and picked up from the factory in Italy. The biggest manufacturers of electric motorcycles are a California brand called Zero Motorcycles. They produce a more urban style bike that seems to have the technology all figured out. Zero Motorcycles has been called the Tesla of electric motorcycles, which gives it elevated expectations in the market. And now the latest entrant, Harley-Davidson, remains to be tested.

Silent Engines
With electric motorcycles having unusually silent engines, they have been linked to motorcycle police officers. Policemen like the thought of being stealthy with electric motorcycles, this makes it 100% possible for them. However, it would probably take a couple more years to fully perfect an electric motorcycle that would be able to sustain all the technology that comes with police officers. Something that motorcyclists look forward to hearing nice and loud is now silent, and we believe that could hinder the target market of electronic motorcycles.

No Gear Shifts
This feature might draw attention away from traditional motorcyclists that have been riding their whole life due to the fact that motorcycles are all shifted manually. There are talks of people that drive automatic cars being attracted to electric motorcycles because they are not gear shifted. Fortunately, people looking to buy electric motorcycles still must get a motorcycle license, which requires them to learn how to use a clutch. It’s good to understand the basics of a traditional bike before jumping on an electric one! Electronic-powered motorcycles are slowly, but surely, growing in higher demand as companies are coming out with better technology to improve them. We don’t believe that this would be the consumers first bike ever bought, but a second or third bike to have around for fun, short rides. Who knows, maybe in the future every vehicle will be made electric and we will all have to adapt to it!
