Hepco & Becker Rider Backrests with Soloracks are available for some cruiser models to give the rider a bit more comfort on the road. Due to the design and handlebar position, some riders would benefit greatly from back support on longer rides. The rider backrest will alleviate some fatigue from holding onto the bars while accelerating or cruising down the highway. The addition of the Solorack on the rear fender is perfect for small luggage.

Please keep in mind that the position of the backrest may not work for every rider. The rider has to be seated towards the back of the seat to meet up with the backrest. If you are positioned forward on the seat to reach the controls, you may not be able to utilize the backrest.

Customers praised the backrest's comfort, sturdy construction, and attractive appearance. Easy installation with perfect alignment was frequently noted. However, some shoppers found the backrest doesn't extend far enough forward, particularly for those with reduced-reach seats or shorter riders.

Hepco & Becker Backrest / Rear Rack

We ordered 2 and received 1…. then a period of time later, we received the second one. Neither are angled to provide any form of back support. An over priced disappointment. Go to Amazon to find what you’re looking for at a fraction of the price of these H&B products.

Works as it should -

Works as it should - but I agree with other reviews that an adjustable model would work better. This one needs to come "forward" about 2 inches. But I was aware of it when I bought it and it works great if I lean back a bit while riding.

Looks AWESOME on my Kawasaki

Looks AWESOME on my Kawasaki Vulcan !!
I did put a reduced-reach seat on my bike so the backrest doesn’t reach far enough towards my back, but it actually makes me feel safer having it behind me if I take off quickly!!

The metal frame is nice

The metal frame is nice and solid. The actual padding on the back rest is terrible. Too soft and no support. Actually the support doesn’t matter because unless you are 6 feet tall or more your back will not even touch it. It should be adjustable to compliment the ergo fit of the 650 Vulcan which it is recommended for. Would I buy it again. No. Am I going to return it? No, because there is no other product I found that works so I will have it modified in order to make it useable and not just eye candy. Also I was not expecting a $132 custom fee on top if what is already overpriced product, At least I have some form of a basic drivers back that I can turn into a workable one. Tearing the back rest off and rebuilding a new one from the frame. All said and done this will be about $700 Cdn dollars to make it functional. Very disappointed with the product . Will I recommend it? No. Not until it is adjustable to support the shorter rider.

Hi Scott,

I am sorry to see you are not happy with the item you purchased. We do appreciate the feedback and if there is any concern about the product we are always happy to help answer any question prior to your purchase so you know exactly what you are getting. We do not advertise the backrest as being adjustable but that is a good idea, however likely to raise costs if a new design were made... We are not the manufacturer but do have to maintain a certain price point to make a profit to stay in business. You even said it yourself, there is no other item like this so we can't compare pricing to anything relative. It could be a great find considering there is no alternative. We have no control over how customs operate as that is controlled by a governmental authority, not a small business like ours. I can't help but think this skewed the review. I am also surprised to see you spend that much and have no control over additional costs from the initial order, especially if you want to customize it. I can't go back in time to fix any of your concerns at this point, but just apologize for your experience and to let you know that we are here to help prior and post purchase. Sorry again for your experience, hopefully you can see we did not intend any harm here.

Thanks,
Ed

It was very easy to

It was very easy to install; feels secure and the alignment was dead-on. For longer rides it is nice to lean against the backrest for comfort. The only thing I wish it did was hold more than 11 pounds on the rack. I would definitely buy it again and recommend it to anyone with the same bike.

Item arrived as described and

Item arrived as described and quickly. I will do business with Moto Machines again. Item well made and looks good. One warning to other Kawasaki Vulcan-S owners -- If you have an extended rider seat like I do, it will not fit or work with this seat. With a standard seat the product will work great!!

Very disappointed- is well made

Very disappointed- is well made and elegant but simply does not fulfill its purpose- it is a good four inches from the small of my back on a regular ergo seat, and has no possible adjustment in any direction. To bend it forward would not help either as it would be at an angle to my back. Disappointing indeed.

The backrest and rack are

The backrest and rack are very strong and add a good look to the bike. The service from Moto machines was excellent. This back rest was hard to find anywhere‘s else yet motor machines had it in stock

Extremely pleased with my Hepco & Becker backrest!

I ordered a Hepco & Becker Solorack with backrest for my 2015 Kawasaki Vulcan S almost five months ago and couldn't be more pleased with it. First, not many driver's backrests exist for my bike so I was happy just to find it. Standing just the right height (I'm 5-11), The backrest provides lower and mid back support and is super comfortable. It's just big enough to do the job (not big and unsightly like Corbin or Mustang backrests). It's also great for walking the bike backwards while sitting on it. The backrest is really sturdy, well-made, and looks fantastic. Installation was very easy and took about five minutes. It really looks great on the bike. I would definitely buy this product again and have already recommended it to many. Deserves six stars!

Review

My review is similar to Deb's review.I too, am about 5'3". There's no way I am able to mount and dismount by throwing my leg over anymore ! I think the Solorack looks nice on my Purple 2015 model, as well as a separate unit on my wife's white Vulcan S but the rack part could be a bit wider - and the actual backrest part is about 4"from my back, making the backrest part virtually useless. That part could be wider as well. I think I'll try to bend mine into proper position. It seems like a sturdy purchase, though.

Hepco & Becker did not fail to please.

Once again, Hepco & Becker did not fail to please. I use the back rest to hold my helmet rather than a back rest as I am short and sit close to the gas tank. The construction is excellent and colour matches the bike wonderfully. I do have a problem swinging my leg over the seat because of the backrest due to my height (5'3') so I've had to get on and off my bike by lifting my leg over the seat. It was super easy to install and the holes for the bolts lined up perfectly.
