First of all, you won't get much in the way of directions and what you do get will be in German. They are not much help anyway. I was going to use the photo of the rack fitted on a bike that is printed on the directions for guidance until I realized that the photo is not of the rack I had... I went on-line and searched for images of the rack on the model bike I have. I got some views - mostly left rear quarter - but it was enough to get me started. Eventually I got it on though I do have some extra hardware left over which is disconcerting (what are those large dampeners for anyway?). The right side case would not close and latch properly at first because the lid was hitting the part of the rack that attaches to the bike. I had to force some shims in to move the case to the right to clear the offending bar so it could close properly.
So installing it was an unnecessary headache which could have been avoided by simply including an exploded view diagram of the rack. I think it is unacceptable for Hepco and Becker to market a product for sale in the USA without going through the trouble of providing useful instructions. Motomachines was not helpful with this either, by the way. So my advice is: 1. Do not order this is you are not mechanically inclined or know someone who is. 2. If you do decide to put it on yourself, relax, don't drink too much coffee like I did, and know that you are pretty much on your own to figure things out. I will be posting detailed photos on-line to ADV Rider which should help some in case you end up doing an internet search for help like I did (though I know I did not do it exactly correct given the left over parts I ended up with...).
