Protection Panels for BMW Panniers

You may not want to publish my comments, but I wanted you to know my impressions.

First, the panels are very good quality, quite thick and appear durable. The cuts are good but not perfect, I had to trim a few edges.

I just returned from a 4,500 mile road trip and the panels survived perfectly. Cleaning the panniers is a snap, bugs and road grime release easily due to the glossy surface.

On the negative side, I had difficulty getting the panels to fit on curved sections on the panniers. The flat sections were no problem at all and fit well, but perhaps because of the relative thickness of the panels, I could not get them to conform to the curved sections in spite of following directions and it was a warm day so the panels were pliable.

I had to cut out triangles of several panels and the end result was poor in places. The protection is good but the appearance is bad.

I am planning on ordering another set of panels and having professionals re-install the curved sections.

Overall, I'm pleased with the product, which is completely invisible once installed, and it is strong and durable.

I recommend that if the panniers have any curves or compound angles, have professionals do the installation.
