The stator and clutch are both in particularly vulnerable engine cases on the 2020+ Yamaha R3 and are both extremely prone to damage during a crash or even a simple tip over in the parking lot. Damage to either stock cover can lead to a cracked cover that leaks vital engine oil, or worse, a cover that was ground down during a slide resulting in full internal component exposure and debris contamination.
